Wonderful cuisine

I mentioned in an earlier post that University Avenue in St. Paul is turning into a street that is bustling with Asian businesses: nail salons, restaurants, bakeries, and grocery stores to name a few.  Here are two businesses that have helped enrich the cuisine of St. Paul. Ethnic restaurants seem to be our first choice when considering eating out, whether it is lunch or dinner.

  8. I just had Thai food last night. Indian, Thai, Chinese, Mexican; they always seem to be my choices for a dinner or lunch out.

  9. Where I live we have almost no Asian restaurants, so I usually have to cook Asian food myself.

  13. Our only Vietnamese restaurant here closed (family death) and I really miss it. I haven't yet found a Chinese restaurant good enough to spoil me but we have a couple of good Thai offerings. Never made it to the Indian restaurant before it closed.

Re: Lighthouses - The one near Sequim, New Dungeness Light Station, is cared for and run by a great group of committed people who have maintained and upgraded it. Members can stay in the very nice keeper's quarters for a week as volunteers (and pay to do so), doing some light chores and leading visitors on tours of the lighthouse. The station is 5 miles down the beach and hard to access during high tide so it's remote. Keepers get a ride out and back. It's a truly wonderful and memorable experience in a gorgeous location.

  14. Thai, Chinese and Japanese food all show up in my dining, especially if my son is with me. But I haven't been exposed enough to Indian or Vietnamese to develop a taste for them.
