Art in Bloom #4-"Cologne Cathedral, Oskar Kokoschka

Shauna Moore and James Fleming "intended to evoke the painterly texture and colors of the Expressionist painting and the sweeping Gothic arches and curves of the cathedral." To create the desired effect they used cymbidium orchids, kiwi vine and greens.

  2. This is a fascinating series. Cologne has one of the world's great cathedrals, and I can't imagine trying to mimic it in flowers.

The Cologne Cathedral is cause for frustration for photographers, however. It is difficult to get a good, clear shot of the entire front facade because of the other nearby buildings, which are post war buildings of no distinction whatsoever, except for the intrusion of the "golden arches."

  4. This is lovely, both flowers and painting. I like this interpretation.
To answer your question in the comment on my site, it was chocolate mousse with a crème Brulee center. Very good. I ate every bit.

  5. I love to see how these flower arrangements reflect the feeling of the artwork. With all those flowers, it must have smelled heavenly in there.

My post tomorrow will answer your question about how Bagdad got it's name and you may be as surprised as I was.

  7. I think they did a good job here of matching the flowers to the mood of the painting.
